Most sectors in MISO ask for more activity from market monitor; cite PJM monitor role

The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator’s independentnmarket monitor should play a more active role in the MISOnstakeholder process, several sectors in the ISO said in reports last week.nThe reports were requested by the MISO AdvisorynCommittee, which discusses “hot topics” at its meetings afternhearing the opinions of various MISO sectors. The topic on thenindependent market monitor’s role was assigned at a June 15nAdvisory Committee meeting.nDavid Patton, president of Potomac Economics, currently servesnas MISO’s independent market monitor and has a similar role in somenother independent system operators as well. As monitor, Patton analyzesndata that is used to evaluate the performance of the markets andnidentifies conduct by market participants or MISO that compromisesnthe efficiency or distorts the outcomes of the markets.
