摘要

The arc behavior in a novel kind of liquid metal current limiter, which mainly takes advantage of the abrupt rising arc pressure when arcing, is researched by experimental methods. The whole arcing process can be classified into three stages according to the shape of the arc and the movement of a U-shaped movable part. The experimental results indicate that this novel method can improve the current limiting property to a certain degree.
