To evaluate the color stability of teeth bleached by non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma with 15% hydrogen peroxide (HP) or carbamide peroxide (CP), extracted human teeth were assigned to four groups (n = 10) and treated with (1) plasma with 15% HP; (2) 15% HP alone; (3) plasma with 15% CP gel; or (4) 15% CP alone. Tooth color was assessed using the CIELAB system over 6 months. Hydroxyl radical concentration ((OH)-O-center dot) was determined using methylene blue dye. Statistical analyses were performed with Student's t-test, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc Duncan tests (p = 0.05). Groups 1 and 3 showed higher color stability than Groups 2 and 4 throughout 6 months. The (OH)-O-center dot activity in plasma with HP/CP was greater than that in HP/CP alone. Thus, we recommend plasma application for bleaching as it provides better color stability.
