Norson Services has just completed a deepwater pipeline operation using its subsea remote flooding and pigging system. The Aberdeen-headquartered company was awarded a multimillion-dollar contract which involved all the subsea based flooding and pigging operations on the Lobito Tomboco pipeline off Angola. Norson Services developed the subsea remote flooding module to flood and pig pipelines in deep water. Using their Remote Flooding Module (RFM) and Subsea Hydrotest Pump (SHP) on behalf of Subsea 7 and Chevron, Norson flooded and pigged 15 subsea pipelines ranging from 3-12-inches in diameter and 4-9 km in length that were located in more than 550 meters of water with filtered, treated water all in accordance with specifications.
