The Vermeer~R and McLaughlin V250 is described as a low-cost vacuum excavator sys- tem capable of hydro-excavation and retrieving both wet and dry spoil. It incorporates many of the standard features of larger vacuum excavation and remediation units. The 250-gallon hydro-excavation unit is powered by a 25-hp Kubota diesel engine with electric start and throttle. The unit features a 575-cfm blower, said to be the most powerful in the industry for its size range, and a three-stage filtration system with a Cyclone separator and two-micron washable final filter, which eliminates the draining and cleaning of a full-size bag house with multiple expensive filters. A tandem axle 7,000-lb. GVWR trailer with electric brakes on each axle make this unit ideal for limited right-of-way access and easy transport between jobsites. Dual hydraulic cylinders and a full rear door for spoil ejection speeds cycle times while dual 50-gallon freshwater saddle tanks are positioned over the axle for better towing and decreased tongue load.
