Q: How do you transition from polyethylene to other materials?rnA: Transition fittings produced from ASTM D2513 pipe that also meet the requirements of ASTM D2513 as a Category 1 pullout resistant mechanical coupling are commonly available in sizes through 12-inch. For the two applications discussed here, 16-inch and 20-inch diameter pullout resistant transition fittings were used. They were produced from ASTM D2513 pipe and tested to be pullout-resistant. Transition fittings are available through 24-inch diameter though the utility should confirm their applicability to regulated gas distribution applications.
