Deepwater flowline pigging represents a difficult task because access to installations involves complex and costly operations requiring high equipment and procedure reliability. In the case of the Albacora and Marlim fields, located in Brazil's Campos Basin, pigging presents a major problem. Paraffin build-up in flowlines installed on a cold sea bottom is a permanent challenge.
