摘要

Nd~(3+) ion crystal field excitations in NdMnO_3 single crystals have been studied by infrared transmission as a function of temperature and under applied magnetic field. Lifting of the ground state Kramers doublet degeneracy (~14cm~(-1)) due to the Mn~(3+)-Nd~(3+) interaction has been observed below the canted-antiferromagnetic phase transition (T_N~75 K). Zeeman splittings of the Nd~(3+) ion excited crystal field levels have been analyzed and the crystal field Hamiltonian parameters have been calculated.
