Based on a successful transportation and installation project in September last year, during which Jumbo transported two valve skids of 351 tonnes and 138 tonnes from Fremantle to the North Rankin gasfield, Jumbo has developed a number of special tools which give their existing fleet of heavy lift vessels installation capability for offshore structures. During the TSEP project of Woodside Energy (W Australia), Jumbo's MV Jumbo Vision over boarded the valve skids on location by means of its two 400t mast cranes and handed them over in 110m water depth to the DSV CSO Venturer of Technip Coflexip Subsea 7 JV, for installation at their final location in 125m water depth. Also three spool pieces (58t -116t) were transported and lowered down to the seabed for wet storage. The obvious advantage of a single ship operation versus the traditional multi-modal approach is in avoiding dou- ble handling, resulting in smaller risk, reduced cost and greater speed in all stages of the operation.
