Developing an intelligent pig for accurate oil and gas line inspection

Dacon Inspection Services was chosen by Total and PTTEP in 1999 to facilitate this new development, based on Dacon's many years of experience in developing specialized pipeline inspection tools for deep sea applications in the North Sea. When PTTEP and Total started conducting Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) surveys in 1994 (one year after first gas) there were no corrosion warning, and the subsequent surveys were set at 3 year intervals. The Bongkot Field is located offshore southern Thailand, in the Gulf of Siam arid consists of a central processing centre and 15 satellite Well Heads.
