Thomas David (Dave) Conquest (1936 - 2014)

It is with sadness and regret that we record that Dave Conquest passed away on 28th June 2014. Dave was well-known and respected in the railway "family" for his comradeship and work over his long career. He joined the Permanent Way Institution in 1971 in the former East London Section, subsequently transferring to the Thames Valley Section where he was elected to the grade of Fellow in 1981. He was a very enthusiastic supporter of the activities of the Section until recently, and he will be particularly remembered for the last occasion he was able to attend one of our events. This was our Annual Social Event at the GWSA Club in Reading on 4 December 2013, when we were all very pleased to see him enter into the spirit of the evening in his usual manner as a member of "The Section Grandees" quiz team with his long-time colleagues Peter Hunt and Rodney Smith.
