XTO Energy and U.S. settle allegation of discharge of waste water from gas well site in Marcellus Shale

U.S. Judge Matthew W. Brann of the Middle District of Pennsylvania approved on Sept. 18 a consent decree in which XTO Energy Inc., a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, agreed to treatment of toxic waste water from Marcellus Shale gas well sites in Pennsylvania and other states in Regional Three of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
