The 2009 Martin P. Korn Award, named in honor of PCI's first executive director, goes to Matthew Schoettler, Andrea Belleri, Dichuan Zhang, Jose I. Restrepo, and Robert Fleischman for their contribution to the advancement of precast and prestressed concrete in the area of design and research. Schoettler, a PhD candidate in the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, in La Jolla, Calif.; Belleri, a graduate student researcher for the Department of Design and Technology at the University of Bergamo in Bergamo, Italy; Zhang, a graduate student in the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona, Tucson; Restrepo, PhD, a professor for the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego; and Fleischman, PhD, associate professor for the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona, were cited for their paper titled "Preliminary Results of the Shake-Table Testing for the Development of a Diaphragm Seismic Design Methodology," which appeared in the Winter 2009 issue of the PCI Journal.
