Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. snagged both the President's and Innovation Awards at the 61st National Paperboard Packaging Competition. Winning both is an achievement that few companies can claim. The winners were announced at the Paperboard Packaging Council Spring Meeting at the Drake Hotel in Chicago in March. Competing against more than 220 entries in open categories, and 18 entries in the Innovation category, the "Family Time Snacks Perfect Popper" popcorn box stood out as something new and different, and performed well under the three criteria of excellence in Internal Production/Converting, Consumer Product Company Environment, and in the Retail Consumer Environment.
