Finnish forest industry groups are continuing their cutbacks this autumn. It was in early July that Stora Enso, one of the largest forest industry companies in Finland, announced that it will publicise its new cost savings programme during the current quarter of 2008, regardless of Russia's forthcoming roundwood export duty decisions. When releasing their recent quarterly reports, the directors of UPM and the Metsaliitto Group did not mention whether any mill closedowns or production line shutdowns were to be expected over the next few months.
