Tesco has thrown its weight behind the Carbon Trust's draft standard for measuring carbon footprint. Britain's largest retailer will measure the embodied carbon emissions of 30 own-brand products across five categories - tomatoes, potatoes, orange juice, light bulbs and washing detergent. Tesco follows a number of major brand owners, including Boots, Walkers and Innocent, in signing up to the standard. It is being developed by the Carbon Trust with BSI British Standards and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
