摘要

Waste management companies have said they were "shocked" after ITV's Tonight programme revealed that waste collected by some local authorities for recycling is ending up in dumps in rural India.rnThe programme, broadcast last month, claimed that 46 local authorities had no idea what happened to their waste after it was sent to contracted sorting facilities. Much of the waste, the show claimed, was dumped on Indian farmland.rnHowever, Ian Wakelin, chief executive of Greenstar UK, said: "We are as shocked and concerned as anyone about what appears to be illegal dumping of unprocessed waste in India."
