Huhtamaki has sold its South American rigid plastics opera-tions to American group Bemis for around €30m.rnUnder the deal, Bemis subsidiaries will take over four plants in Brazil and Argentina that have annual net sales of around €60m and some 640 staff.rnThe sale is part of Finnish group Huhtamaki's strategic review of its rigid plastics business across the globe, which was first announced in September last year. While it hopes to offload rigid plastics, it is planning to focus on its flexible and moulded fibre packaging operations.rnHuhtamaki chief executive Jukka Moisio said that the salernwas an "excellent outcome" to the review in South America. "We are also genuinely pleased to have Bemis as the buyer and are confident it will be a good owner for this business," he said.
