San Francisco to Strengthen Its Cell Phone Radiation Law

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has approved a measure that would require stores selling cell phones to warn customers about the possible risks of cell phone radiation. Last June, the city tentatively approved a bill to require sellers to display information about the absorption rate of radiation next to phones or face fines. That action was challenged by the cell phone industry, which led to the measure being temporarily shelved. With support from the state and cell phone safety activists, Interim Mayor Ed Lee submitted an amended bill.
