Suit claims farmworkers continue to face heat risk

Seven years after California enacted first-in-the-nation rules to protect outdoor workers from heat illness, farmworkers continue to face risk while the state fails to perform its statutory duties. That's the premise behind a lawsuit filed in state court against Cal/OSHA for its "systematic failure" to enforce the rules requiring farmers to provide water, shade, and rest to employees in order to prevent heat illness or death.
