Romanian youth: what's the difference with other young people around the world?

When writing about health promotion and young people in any country around the world, it can be either too easy or too complicated. Too easy because usually young people wherever they live, have a specialopenness, flexibility and promptness to answer to new ― including a healthier behaviour ― which other age group populations don't. It is too complicated because we often consider ― from our expert positions ― we know the best for our children and younger ones. Which often is not true. About three years ago a group of young people proposed to design a "something" aimed at preventing STIs, by educating young people about the different diseases and how are they transmitted and not transmitted. That "something" was supposed to be ... a computer game: young people themselves designed an education tool in such a medicalised field like STI prevention. In Romania, in 1999, this was something very difficult to be "swallow". This is not a too unrealistic statement for any other part of the world. The computer game was supposed to be part of a package, together with a brochure, a poster, a flyer and an Internet interactive site, where the players could "discuss" on line about their results.
