Equity, justice and the social determinants of health

I am delighted to be joining you for this important discussion on strengthening health equity through action on the social determinants of health.rnI will not be focusing my remarks narrowly on the report itself, although I congratulate Michael Marmot and his colleagues on this impressive report. I have instead been asked to help set the scene for this morning's panel on 'sustainability and the changing environment', a discussion on the impacts of climate change on communities and their health, and how to mitigate these through sustainable development.
