TIM Brasil and Xtera Deploy Optical 100G Network on Aerial Cables in North and Center West Brazil

TIM Brasil, the fastest growing operator in Brazil, selected 100G optical networking equipment supplied by Xtera Communications, Inc., a leading global provider of optical networking solutions, for upgrading long-haul optical transmission infrastructure in north and center west Brazil. The upgraded infrastructure links Manaus, Porto Velho and Cuiaba. This deployment is part of TIM Brasil's effort to upgrade a large ring in the northern part of Brazil with 100G technology, representing about 50% of the whole Brazilian territory. In conjunction with the LT Amazonas 2013 deployment, which was also implemented with Xtera's 100G and Raman solutions, this project brings a second route for high bandwidth connectivity and enhanced resiliency to Manaus and the entire North Region.
