China Unicom deploys Nokia optical fronthaul for 5G deployment

China Unicom has selected the Nokia optical fronthaul service to power its 4G and 5G networks in Beijing. Nokia's optical fronthaul network is expected to provide transport of China Unicorn's 4G/5G cloud RAN traffic in Beijing, and power transmissions between central-office baseband units and remote radios. The Nokia 1830 Versatile WDM Module (VWM) also provides multiservice WDM optical transport for 4G and 5G fronthaul in cloud RAN architectures.
