The governance of agio- and pharmaceutical biotechnology innovation: Public policy and industrial strategy

摘要

Multinational companies in the life science sector are highly influenced by government policies and regulations, which in turn attempt to influence them nationally and internationally. The recent research on this topic is covered with specific examples and by focusing on new governance agendas in Europe and considering their impact on enabling, constraining and discriminating policies on company strategies. The study shows that a more enabling and discriminating policy and regulatory environment can achieve public goals more efficiently and effectively, by considering the resources and capabilities available to firms, rather than relying on broad brush carrot and stick approaches.
