Client strategies in vendor transition: A threat balancing perspective

It is an emerging process that organizations replace their existing vendors with new vendors. This usually happens after some years of operation due to various reasons such as poor performance of the vendor, the vendor's inability to increase production as per the requirement of the client or that the vendor would like to discontinue the services for various reasons. On one hand the clients should make sure that the new vendor is capable of fulfilling the orders and the outgoing vendor should not pose problems because of his awareness of the client organizations business well. Not many studies have been conducted in this aspect of vendor management and this study intends to fill up this gap to provide insight in to potential problems of vendor transition and provides suggestions for handling the situation without any related problems.
