Like Shakespeare's Cleopatra, the World Wide Web is "infinite in variety." Anyone who has spent more than a modicum of time surfing the Web has encountered the good, the bad, and the ugly among its offerings. For librarians and information professionals, it is easiest to decide just which of these qualities typifies a particular resource if that resource has an analog in the well-established world of printed publications.
