A Tool for Change: Technology and Activism in the Year 2020

Entering the last months of 2020, we have a lot to reflect upon. One thing that J particularly stands out is the amount of widespread activism and social justice progress that has happened this year in the United States. At the end of May, in the midst of a global pandemic, massive protests and mobilization occurred in the wake of the death of George Floyd while in police custody, hot on the heels of the delayed arrests of the killers of Ahmaud Arbery, as well as Breonna Taylor's tragic slaying during a botched police raid. These protests were met with excessive police /military force and ultimately erupted into riots throughout major cities across the country.
