Communicating About Discovery Systems

EVER HAD THE FEELING that public service reference librarians and their IT departments or systems librarians speak different languages? What seems perfectly obvious to one group requires extensive explanations to the other. The intuitively obvious is neither intuitive nor obvious. Nowhere is this inability to communicate more prevalent-and more critical to the smooth functioning of the library-than with discovery systems.
