Shipowners have ordered vast amounts of vessels over the past few years, and the orderbook currently stands at 71.9% of the bulker fleet, 46.6% of the containership fleet and 44.1% of the oil tanker fleet in terms of dwt. With the upheaval of the financial markets over the past three months and the decline in rates and asset values in shipping at large, it's a good time to take a look at tanker supply side fundamentals.
