Judge Says Bp May Probe Personal Finances Of Midwest Marketer

A federal judge has blocked an attempt by large Midwest marketer Darshan S. Dhaliwal to restrict access to his personal financial records and those of his immediate family and has ordered him to turn the documents over to attorneys for BP. BP is suing Dhaliwal's company, Bulk Petroleum, alleging that it has commingled and cross-hauled gasoline. The refiner has terminated Bulk's franchise and is trying to force the firm to debrand 120 BP sites it supplies in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Bulk has countersued, seeking to recover profits it says it lost when BP terminated its franchise last year (OE 12/24/07).
