Affiliates of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. have purchased 212 c-stores in the Southeast in two deals. The first acquisition involves Worsley Operating Companies, which owns 124 sites in the Carolinas operating under the Scotchman, Youngs and S-E banners. They fly BP, Exxon, Shell, Mobil and Sunoco flags, in addition to proprietary fuel brands Carolina Petro and Anytime Energy. Sun Capital will retain Jeffrey W. Turpin, the chief operating officer of Worsley, as its president and CFO. Separately, another affiliate of Sun Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all the assets of Li'l Cricket Food Stores, Inc., which operates 88 c-stores in South Carolina and sells mostly Valero and Marathon brands. The purchase more than doubles the number of stores owned and operated by Sun's affiliates, and will extend its footprint into two new states, the company said. Terms were not disclosed.
