A refusal by Gilbarco to clarify its plans for year-end production is worrying some marketers.rnIn the past, Gilbarco has shut down a chunk of its operations during the month of December while it takes inventory, sources say. Marketers have been asking if the firm will do the same this year. Shell and Chevron jobbers are particularly concerned because they must install some PCI equipment by Dec. 31.rnSome marketers say Gilbarco distributors have told them that they must get their orders in before Nov. 20 if they want equipment by year's end. Gilbarco declines to discuss its plans for December. Over the space of a month, Gilbarco communications manager Lucy Sackett ducked the question three times.rn"We traditionally shut down parts of our operation for the holiday period, while other parts stay open to provide 24/7 customer support," Sackett said in September.
