Citgo says it will raise marketer credit card fees

Citgo is about to join the growing number of refiners raising credit card rates, Oil Express learns. The company blames its decision on recent rate hikes by MasterCard and Visa.rnUnder the new rates, Citgo will raise its fee for debit card sales to 35cts per transaction, up 5cts from the current 30cts. For Visa and MasterCard sales, the company will increase fees from 1.6%, plus 15cts per transaction, to 1.7% and 15cts.rnShell, Chevron and ConocoPhillips have all raised their credit card rates in the past few months. ExxonMobil acted earlier this month to claw back rate reductions it had offered for a year. In late March, Visa and MasterCard unveiled new rates for acquirers that were expected to trickle down to marketers (OE 03/23/09).
