A monsoon of ill wind has hit most gasoline marketers in 2009, delivering the worst first calendar quarter of the decade.rnEvery single region of the U.S. saw lower gas margins than during the comparable period in 2008, and last year wasn't a barn-burner early on. A tough first quarter isn't unusual. But this year delivered a particularly harsh environment - the final EIA record for February and March gasoline demand hasn't been calculated, but January 2009 saw a slight dip from 2008 numbers by most accounts.
