East Coast independent Gulf Oil has assembled a new leadership team that will soon launch several new programs, for both its iconic "Gulf brand as well as the secondary "Wave" flag that first was hoisted by branded distributors this quarter. Heading up the effort will be Gulf president Ron Sabia, who also serves as chief operating officer for the Newton, Mass.-based firm. Joe Petrowski, president of Gulf Oil and CEO of Cumberland Farms, noted that Sabia represents the ideal leader to "bring Gulf Oil to the next level." The company rolled out its first Wave-branded stations earlier this year and plans to grow that secondary flag as an alternate route for marketers who wish to gain access to Gulf infrastructure, systems and people. A new multifaceted customer loyalty program that ties in discounts with a major retail partner in the grocery business is expected to be finalized soon.
