NACS launches new dispenser label to help marketers detect card fraud at pump

The National Assn. of Convenience Stores (NACS) has launched "We Care... About Your ID," a new program to help marketers fight back against ID fraud at the pump.rnCentral to the security education and training program are tamper-evident labels developed by Livingston, N.J.-based security firm TydenBrooks that NACS says will help retailers identify potential security breaches if skimming devices are inserted at dispensers or other unattended PIN-entry devices.rnThe security labels are placed on dispensers near the credit/debit card transaction area. If the label is lifted to insert a skimming device, a "void" message appears on the label, providing a visual alert to store employees that someone has tried to tamper with the pumps. The labels should also serve to assure customers that their data is secure, and possibly discourage criminals from targeting the store.
