Irving Oil will reimburse two years worth of off-spec gasoline purchases

Irving Oil will reimburse customers who bought off-spec premium gasoline at one of the loading racks in its Saint John refinery from 2008 to 2009. In mid-August, Irving reported that a portion of its premium gasoline wasn't meeting octane specifications and attributed the problem to a malfunction of a valve at the rack. Less than two weeks later, the refiner acknowledged that octane levels of an unspecified portion of gasoline sold from its refinery have been below promised specifications since some time in 2008.
