Gulf Oil is once again expanding its unbranded fuel offering in a Gulf Coast state. The company soon will be wholesaling gasoline at a TransMontaigne terminal in Pt. Everglades, Fla., sources confirm. Unbranded gasoline will be sold under the moniker of Gulf's Great Island Energy division and show up in the OPIS database as Gulf-GIE. The company will post daily prices, but will also offer customers the right to buy fuel at various indices, including at differentials versus NYMEX prices throughout each business day. It's that ability to lock in numbers during periods of gasoline weakness that has enabled the company to do particularly brisk volumes on down days in the marketplace.
