Another type of fuel theft has surfaced over the last year or so in severalrnareas of the country involving the factory-set code inside gas stationrndispensers. The code gives a user access to control certain dispenser functions.rnA Kankakee, Ill., Marathon station about 40 miles south of Chicagornis one of the most recent victims. Local police said a thief likely used arnuniversal key to open the dispenser cabinet and entered the default settingrnfor the code to pump fuel freely without it registering as a sale.
