Gas stations can face a credit card chargeback for failing to keep records ofrnunder-runs, Marathon Petroleum Corp. told branded wholesalers in a newsletter.rnAn “under-run” is when a customer uses a credit card to prepay for fuelrnbut doesn’t use the full prepaid amount in dispensing the fuel. Even thoughrnthe customer is later charged the lower amount for the fuel that actually wasrnpurchased, the receipt issued shows only the prepaid amount.rnMarathon said gas station operators must note the amount of fuelrnpurchased and how much of the prepaid amount was used.
