MacEwen acquires 51 c-stores, 22 with fuel

Independent distributor and marketer MacEwenPetroleum recently acquired the assets of QuickieConvenience Stores Corporation, adding 51 c-stores, including22 with fuel, in Eastern Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec.The deal will almost double MacEwen's portfolio of stores.The MacEwen chain is co-owned by Arnold Kimmel and LarryHartman and was started in 1976. MacEwen has operationsin Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba with over 250 employees.In addition to 57 company-op sites, the company suppliesfuel to 85 dealers. It also distributes heating oil, propane andcommercial fuels through 15 regional offices in Ontario andQuebec and has wholesale and commercial fuel customers.
