From the States: Gas tax increased in many states

Overall, 20 states saw gas tax and fee increases since July 2020 while motorists in 30 states continued to pay the same amounts into state coffers, according to data from the American Petroleum Institute (API). Gas taxes and fees fell in only four states: Florida (42.26cts/gal, a 0.03ct decline), Iowa (30cts/gal, down 0.5ct), Maryland (36.1cts/gal, a 0.2ct decline) and Nebraska (28.6cts/gal, decline of 5.5cts). California continues to have the highest gas tax in the United States, while large increases in other states saw Washington fall four spots in the overall ranking, API noted.
