Trade groups including the Energy Marketers of Americaand the National Association of Convenience Stores havewritten U.S. public health agencies asking them to issuestatements “emphasizing that state and local rules shouldnot place the burden of verifying vaccination on employees.”The May 25 letter to the U.S. Department of Health andHuman Services, Centers for Disease Control and Preventionand U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration isin response to a new Oregon Health Authority policy thatrequires businesses to enforce the state’s guidance onwearing protective masks by checking individuals for proofof vaccination for COVID-19.
