New year promising for E15

Another hurdle for E15 was cleared in the fourth quarter of last year, when New York allowed for the sale of E15 in the Empire state, where it had been outlawed. The addition of New York to E15’s territory and the federal year-round 1-psi Reid Vapor Pressure waiver were two key regulatory milestones for the higher ethanol blend of gasoline. However, consumer acceptance and, perhaps more importantly, education are going to be critical for its success.
