M&A: Two petroleum marketers acquire heating oil businesses

Two marketers – Palmer Gas & Oil, a heating oil and propane marketer in Atkinson, N.H., and Roberts Energy, of Springfield, Mass. – have added heating oil business through acquisitions. Roberts Energy, of Springfield, Mass., has purchased commercial and retail heating oil supplier Superior Fuel Inc. of Waterbury, Conn., marking the company’s first foray into the heating oil business. The sale was concluded Oct. 25, according to an announcement by Roberts. A Roberts representative wouldn’t disclose details of the transaction Thursday. F.L. Roberts, a predecessor company, previously had home heating oil operations in Springfield, Mass., in the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s, and most recently in Vermont in the 1990s, according to the announcement.
