Right now in the North Sea offshore support vessel (OSV) market, platform supply vessel (PSV) owners are absolutely desperate for the drilling campaigns in the Russian Arctic (Kara Sea and Pechora Sea) to commence as soon as possible, as this would see around 15 vessels leave the UK and Norway to take up work there. In the Kara Sea, ExxonMobil has a drilling programme involving the semi-submersible drilling rig West Alpha, which has called upon OSVs from companies such as Island Offshore, Siem Offshore and Rem Offshore. Meanwhile, several vessels will be supporting the jack-up GSP Saturn when it begins operations for Gazprom in the Pechora Sea, which is in the south eastern part of the Barents Sea on the Russian continental shelf.
