Unique Hydra secures orders for diving daughter craft

Unique Hydra specialises in the design and manufacture of diving systems and marine, survey, offshore oil and gas and non-destructive testing equipment. Diving daughter craft are used in diving operations where a conventional dive support vessel is not able to position itself close enough to an offshore platform or floating production, storage and offloading unit. The company says it spent much of 2013 engaging with clients to understand their diving daughter craft operational and equipment requirements. As the company explained, diving daughter craft are considered as offshore workboats and therefore normally certified by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the UK. They do not normally require Solas certification (International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea), as they are not considered as lifeboats, man-overboard boats or fast rescue craft.
