Pieter van Oord has been a member of the executive board at Van Oord in The Netherlands since 2007. He was appointed CEO in November 2008. Apart from chairing the executive board at the company, he is responsible for The Netherlands and the company's offshore wind business unit, which has experienced strong growth in the last couple of years. The last 12 months have been significant ones for Van Oord. The company played a major role in a project to upgrade the Suez Canal, its new cablelay vessel Nexus started work on the Gemini offshore wind project in The Netherlands and the company introduced its latest innovation, the Deep Excavation System, which that allows flexible tailpipe vessels to dredge in depths up to at least 1,000m.
