There wilt be consolidation in the thruster propeller market as a result of the offshore industry downturn, predicted Gerhard Jensen, chief executive of the rudder propeller manufacturer Schottel. Asked by OSJ if Schottel would consider absorbing other companies as part of that consolidation he said, "Wait and see." He was addressing Schottel's international sales and service staff on 16 September near the company's German headquarters and spoke of "challenging times" because of the low oil and gas prices. The economic downturn in China, which affected other shipping sectors, has also affected the maritime industry, so "I am pretty sure we will see some consolidation in this industry in the near future," he said.
